At Sun King Farms, we produce Arabian horses with that special beauty that says “I am an Arabian”.  Our horses are athletic and beautiful; horses that stand out in a crowd. It is our goal to dispel the belief that Arabians cannot be sane family horses.  People of all levels have enjoyed our horses, as companions, for the last 35 years.  They have been first horses; trail horses, international champions, brood mares, endurance horses, and winners of the Tevis cup and of endurance races around the world.  Our horses have taught people to ride, taken their owners new to heights, and helped them through the lows.  They have been best friends.

    Catherine Smith has been breeding Arabians since 1972.  She had been “Arab crazy” since childhood and when she purchased a grade mare she immediately bred her to an Arabian stallion.  That started the avalanche into becoming a full-blown breeder and has since registered almost 100 purebred Arabian foals. 

    Sun King bred horses have great minds and athleticism.  These horses have competed all over the world in several different arenas.  Al Baraaq, sired by *Berdo, one of Cathy’s stallions, was the only American bred horse to finish in the Dubai international and he placed 19 in a tough field of more seasoned local horses.   Another Sun King bred horse; SK Shakla Khan (Sanadik El Shaklan x Sun King Raindrop) is recognized all over Australia as a leading sire.  He was born and bred here on the Central Coast, was sold, exported and shown and quickly became the Australian Reserve National Champion Stallion.  Oritos Sonny, also sired by *Berdo, tied for first place in the grueling 100 mile Western States Trail Ride, also known as the Tevis cup.  The Grand Passion was a 1989 Regional Top Five with 22 fillies in the class.  Grace ofmy Heart is a Regional Champion Sport Horse, Hunter under saddle, and Western Pleasure mare, and her full brother Twyst of Fait was a finalist at Nationals in Open Hunter Junior Horse, and a multiple champion in the Hunter and halter ring. Suns Shamba La is a Champion Country English Pleasure Horse and his full brother Suns El Morocco was a multiple champion in hunter at the class A and regional level.  Their dam, Princess Bride was a champion in English pleasure before she retired to the live of a brood mare, producing champion after champion.   Here at Sun King Farms it’s about quality and not quantity.
